Greetings in His matchless Name!
Yes, it’s me again bugging you. The good news is that you can simply place this in the trash quickly if you are not in-terested…and I will never know. ☹
However if you have developed endurance you might just read on…
I just returned last week from a (nightmare trip – red-eye) flight from DesMoines, Iowa (10 ½ loooong boring hours – both directions - Frontier Airlines. And I wasn’t even there for the Iowa caucuses. (Yay!) Actually I went out there for one specific purpose to see my looooong time great friends Evang. Herb and Mrs. Marge Brail. They have moved into a VA nursing facility. It is not the kind you ordinarily think of. It is spotless and odorless and huge and up-to-date serving three good meals each day. (Of course Herb needs more than 3! – so they are free to leave the premises any time to go to a restaurant, etc.) They are in an apartment that is very nice and Marge doesn’t have to clean, wash dishes, or even do laundry, etc. It has a large bedroom, a nice living room, a very nice bathroom and even a small office space for Herb. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them and their vivacious and fun-to-be-with daughter Ruth and of course, Miss Velvet, their therapy bunny. (She is living with a friend now but they are trying to get her to live with them again. She stayed with me in a cottage on the property - a nice separate dwelling with 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, bath and large living room, for $20/day – which the Brails took care of.) We enjoyed the fellowship together, relived old times and memories and went out to restaurants, etc. Herb’s hand is healing nicely and Marge seems to be doing better. They are still planning to come east this summer (D.V.) to do his VBS “Illusions with Meaning” tour and where we will meet up in Cape May, N.J. for a few days as we do so annually. Last summer, I only stayed a few days since Shirley was not with us. Marge was such a help, blessing and friend to her over the years.
I am keeping busy teaching S.S. and preaching meetings once again after a 2 year hiatus due to Shirley’s declining health, along with teaching at Harbor Baptist’s East Gate Baptist College under Pastor Patrick Higgins each Monday night. I am teaching a theology course and presently on the subject (my favorite) of Bibliology. I will also be teaching couples at Harbor Baptist on 2 Wednesday nights this month. I preached all day recently at Del. Co. Baptist Church in Havertown, PA where Eddie Hall had been pastor for many years. He is in a nursing home now and could use your prayers. The new pastor and his dear and talented wife were a blessing to me. They have done wonders with the building and grounds and are kind of “starting the ministry from scratch” there. It is really shaping up. It is like a brand new church. Pastor and Mrs. Corey Woolner are from Solid Rock and have a vision for this ministry.
I miss Shirley every day!!! My house is an empty shell without her (as am I). It is soooo quiet around the house. She was/is the love of my life, my best friend, my wife for nearly 60 years, my constant companion, the better half of me and now is part of Christ’s Bride in Heaven.
I will now offer a piece of unsolicited, but very important counsel to all you husbands and wives out there: LOVE your partner – not just the words “I love you” as you hang up the phone, but in demonstrable ways DAILY. That includes anything you can do to make each other happier that day, mentally, spiritually, physically, intimately, etc. Never miss an opportunity, for one day there will be no more and you will regret it. Remember you are “one flesh” so anything you can do to or for him/her benefits both of you. (You can pay me later for this advice.)
Keep looking UP! It can’t be much longer. AMEN!
Sincerely in the Savior,
Pastor (e) Paul C. Fedena
