Greetings in His matchless Name!

​91 years ago I showed up on planet earth (May 28, 1934).  What this means, of course, is that I am an OLD MAN!  The good news is that I don’t have any aches or pains…but I am much weaker and a bit more unsteady on my feet.  I can also no longer work hours on my lawn or garden without tiring out.  My advice then is “don’t get old, it is no fun”…of course the alternative is nothing to look forward to either.  However I do daily look forward to going home to Heaven with my wife Shirley and the saints of the ages.  (I miss Shirley every day and it has now been over 6 years since she left me for another man…the MAN CHRIST JESUS.  I often speak to her, but she never answers!?  I also don’t know what my relationship will be to her when I get to Heaven???  I know we both will be a part of the Bride of Christ (I have asked the Lord not to make me wear a dress!!)  Beyond that????  (Even though the author, Randy Alcorn, is not King James Only, I find the book helpful with a great deal of insight.  The book is simply titled:  HEAVEN. Obviously he doesn’t have all the answers, but gives much food for thought.)
     
I am presently in somewhat of a quandary.  Since leaving my (and Shirley’s) long time home church due to serious issues there, I have lost a good chunk of financial support.  A couple of former supporters have also dropped monthly support.  A serious problem also impacted that situation, when my former bank (Republic) dissolved and a new bank (Fulton) took over my checking account (I don’t have a savings account).  They stopped all my monthly automatic payments.  As a result, I lost my health insurance and placed me in a very difficult situation. This left me very confused, when on Jan. 1st I landed in the hospital with the flu for 7 days. (and a LARGE BILL to go with it.)  Since then, my son Dan has taken charge of my meager financial manage-ment.  (He has some personal health and job issues and doesn’t need mine as well.) 
    
I am now a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church in Penndel/Langhorne, PA., less than 10 minutes from my home, under the capable leadership of Pastor Dennis Higgins, Jr.  He and his family set a great example for the flock.  His preaching and teaching are super, and he has a great relationship with the flock God has entrusted him with.  My son and daughter-in-law (Dan and Amy Fedena) are also members there. 
    
Please be much in prayer for my daughter Crystal who lives in Pensacola, Fl. and who recently lost her husband (Jerry Lefevers) due to extreme dementia.  She is having sleep difficulty every night and is facing financial hardship as well, depending on the Veteran’s Administration.  Jerry was a devoted ex-Navy man, and though they provided a caregiver for him before his move to Heaven, they seem to be dragging their feet with help for Crystal. (My other daughter Dawn in West Palm Beach and Crystal’s best friend, Sandy Waters in Georgia, are both trying to help as much as they can.)  I was present when Jerry left for Heaven and had a part in his funeral, along with his pastor Bill Adams.  Crystal is continuing to be very active in the Smyrna Baptist Church there in Pensacola and she does have a number of good friends in the church.

Dear Praying Friends,  hello, once again!  This is your OLD friend trusting all is going well with you all (y’all).  I am still above ground and will soon be 91 years old.  I am getting more anxious every day to go to Heaven to be with the Lord and my wonderful wife, Shirley.  The problem is that I don’t know what my relationship will be with her there.  I know we will both be a part of the Bride of Christ (I already told the Lord I don’t want to wear a dress!  ), but I do want to be something more than an “old friend” to her.  After just short of 60 years of being husband and wife on earth, I am hoping we will share something more than just a passing “Hi there, good to see you again!”  I miss her every day down here now.  It will soon be 6 years since she left me for another man, the MAN CHRIST JESUS!
 
These past few weeks have been very trying.  First my oil burner/heater died leaving me without heat or hot water.  Sponge baths only.  Thankfully, it has been replaced with a new one (at great cost and aggravation).  Then days later the roof blew off my enclosed porch…still waiting for a replacement (more $$$$!).  I had lost a good amount of finan-cial support when I had to switch churches due to difficult circumstances there.  The good news is that my new home church (Grace Ind. B.C. in Penndel/Langhorne, PA under the capable leadership of Dennis Higgins, Jr.) is much closer to my home (8-10 minutes).  My son Dan and his wife Amy are willing to transport me to church, where they are also members.  I only have a checking account and it is running very low.  I have no savings or investments, etc..  Thankfully my son is monitoring my finances.  I do own my home, so I have no mortgage, but taxes in my township are heavy.  
 
I have age-related macular degeneration in my left eye and my right eye is getting dimmer.  I cannot drive in rainy weather at night.  But the BIG BLOW to me is that my  3 yr. lease is up on my very low milage, spotless, 2022 Subaru Legacy and I will have to turn it in.  My son doesn’t want me to drive any longer, so he doesn’t want me to get another car.  I had always hoped that I would be able to preach and teach till I went to Heaven.  I have 2 meetings presently lined up and no way to get there or back home (without an Uber, taxi or hitch- hiking!   ).
 
Things are not all negative though.  I have no aches or pains, and I know there is a great Father/Loving Savior/King/Creator Who looks after His children.  I will soon go to be with Him forever in Heaven (and see Shirely and many friends made over the years since getting saved at age 22, and the 4 churches it has been my honor to pastor.  Wonderful friends have been a blessing and many continue to be so.)  I have been blessed indeed!

Dear Praying Friends.
 
     Greetings in His matchless Name!
 
     I will begin with my broken leg saga.  I had to wear a “boot” for some 12 weeks.  I had been planning a trip to Florida for the holidays and finally got rid of the cumbersome boot just in time.

I was using a cane for balance, but arrived there in the “Sunshine State” (Pensacola, N. Florida) to see the family.  While there I only saw three or four sunny and warm  days in over 2 weeks.

While I enjoyed the family, fellowship and food (my daughter Crystal cooked all my favorite meals.  (like pierogies, capusta, halupcha -- I was raised Ukrainian), along with some favorite American meals.  I don’t cook (too stupid, stubborn or old?!).  When home Dan, my son and Amy his wife, provide a variety of American meals each week.  What a blessing they are to me.
They also provide financial, computer help, etc.
 
     When I arrived in Florida, Jason’s wife Sara, delivered a brand new baby boy.  They named him Oliver, and call him Ollie.  I quickly went to the hospital to welcome him into our crazy world and to hold him (which I did several times later, as well).  I spent Christmas with the entire family and stayed with Crystal & Jerry (and Millie, their German shepherd dog) but regularly saw Paul and his wife and 3 kids (including the twins: Jack & Julia).  I often drove because Crystal had cochlear implant surgery where they drilled into her skull behind her ear and inserted a wire into her brain so she had a lot of pain there.  They will insert the implant when the surgical site heals.  I drove some and was able to spend time with Stephanie and Andrew and their 3 girls.   Stephen, Linda and their three girls drove down from Kentucky.  The entire family went to the “Camp O the Pines” owned by Pensacola Christian College (beautiful) on Christmas evening to exchange gifts.  A great time of fellowship, food and family, merriment and love.  (I never used the cane the entire time…pain and boot free at last!).
 
     I arrived home on New Years Eve and was feeling fine.  I stayed up late and woke up early the next morning and went to get out of bed, and crumpled to the floor.  My cell phone was not in my bedroom so I began trying to crawl to my office next to my bedroom, but I had NO STRENGTH at all.  I crawled an inch at a time and after 4 HOURS (and a lot of bruising) made it to where I could reach up and pull my land line phone cord and called 911 from the floor.  My grandson Dylan, a policeman heard the call and immediately came to my home, along with the ambulance, my son and son-in law.  They took me to the hospital, and I was diagnosed with the FLU (I had had a flu shot).  I spent 7 days in the hospital and got back home yesterday. VERY WEAK and am using a Rollator for balance.  Please keep up your prayers for me as the Lord brings me to your mind and heart.  Also I would solicit your prayers for Jerry, Crystal’s husband who is in stage 4 of dementia, which places a tremendous burden on Crystal.  (I did lead his caregiver to the Lord just before leaving Florida).
 
     I am sorry for not sending a Christmas and New Years card or letter to you, but as you can see it has been a busy time for this OLD preacher man.  (I did get to preach in a good church in Florida, a real blessing, and I received a lot of positive comments about the message entitled: “Blest Be the Tie That Binds the Pastor and His People” from Acts 20:27-38  (see my website at pastorpaulfedena.weebly.com)  Wishing you all (y’all) a wonderful 2025!

​Dear Praying Friends,
 
          Greeting in His matchless Name!  I am back, but not completely!  My broken lower leg is still in a boot which I have to wear 24/7 (yes, even to bed each night)!  I am also using a walker, like an old person (which I am!).  With this turn of events, I actually now feel old.
 
          My son Dan, has taken my car keys (he thought I would cheat!  ), so I am really home bound at this point.  (I was lonely before this, but at least I could leave the house when needed.)  Now I am stuck at home day and night.  The walls are closing in.  (The only living things in my home besides me are some tropical fish, and they never talk.  Of course I still have my friend ZERO, my ventriloquist buddy, but he only talks when I do, so he is no help at all.)
 
           I do have some house-keeping help two days each week through the Vets Administration, thanks to my daughter Dawn. (I served in the U.S. Navy & Army.) A woman comes in twice a week to help clean, empty trash cans, etc.  The two women have been very helpful and willing to do whatever I need.
 
          My son Dan & his wife Amy and/or their son Dylan pick me up for church services, and I am very grateful.   I actually see and fellowship with living human beings and hear God’s Word taught and preached by my new pastor Dennis Higgins, Jr. at Grace Independent Baptist Church in Penndel/Langhorne, PA about 8 minutes from my home.  He and his family are a blessing and set a good example. His wife and 3 daughters and one son in college are a compliment to his ministry.  He is a handsome, energetic and ambitious pastor.  He has led in the nearly completely remodel of the church auditorium, rest rooms, etc.  The church is growing and vibrant and has a good weekly soul-winning outreach program.
 
        My grandson Dylan just graduated from the police academy and is now officially a policeman.
He is a part of the Bristol Twp. Police force in my area.  He looks handsome in uniform and was selected by his fellow students to bring the address at the graduation exercises.  I was proud of him and the other young men and women last Friday afternoon.  We had a graduation fellowship at Dan and Amy’s home after the service. 
 
      This past Lord’s day I was invited to my former church in Fairless Hills for a “senior saints” get-together by their pastor Chad Braley.  He is a good pastor and a gentleman, and I had a good day together with many of my old friends from Faith Baptist where I pastored for 31 years.  After the AM services we were all treated to a meal in a nearby restaurant, where we had another church service for dessert.
 
      If you would, PLEASE PRAY for my healing.  When I took off the boot and Ace bandage to shower the other day, I found that the area of the break (my fibula) was swollen and hurting.  I hope it will heal and I will no longer need the boot or the walker.  I have an appointment with the bone doctor on Nov. 1st.  It can’t come soon enough to suit me.  I am really getting impatient with this episode in my life.  Of course I am looking to my next great event as I move to Heaven to meet my Savior (and my wife of nearly 60 years, Shirley, whom I love and miss daily).

​Dear Praying Friends,
 
     Greetings in His matchless Name!
 
     I have recently travelled to Florida and had a great time of fellowship with most all my family who “deserted me” and moved there.   Thankfully my son Dan and his family are still nearby and keep me from starving (I still don’t cook…too dumb, too old or just too stubborn!?)  Then last week, my daughter Crystal, her husband Jerry and my grandson Jason and his wife Sara and their son Chase, flew to PA to visit me.  We had a great week.  We visited Cape May, NJ and Wildwood to see the boardwalk for his wife and son.  (the so-called boardwalk in Pensacola is about 2 blocks long, the one in Wildwood is 2 ½ miles long!)  The next day my son Dan and his wife Amy, took his Jet Ski to Belmar, NJ so we could all (yes, me too…the only 90 year old out there) take turns riding it in the backwater.  Dan and I went out into the ocean but found the wind and waves a bit too strong and turned back.  That night Dan and Amy treated all to a back-yard delicious meal on their patio. The following day we all drove down to Wilmington, DE to my sister’s home and she fed us as well.  Early that evening we headed to Phila. for a Phillies baseball game.  Dan got us good seats and the Phillies won the game 7-0 against Cleveland. (I believe they probably won due to my daughter Crystal’s loud cheering above the 48,000 other fans. ) On Sunday we all went to Grace Ind. Baptist Church to hear Pastor Dennis Higgins, Jr.  The next morning early the Floridians all went back home.  (A very busy week for this 90 year old! Preacher.)
 
     I am still preaching/teaching wherever the Lord opens the doors.  My next meetings will be in Easton, PA where my good friend Pastor (e) Art Gilmore pastored for over 30 years.  (He now lives in Jacksonville, FL where most of his family reside.)  I have preached in this good church for many years, including his annual Tent Meetings.  The new pastor is brother Funkhouser.
 
     I will be teaching at the annual area wide Sunday School Conf. in North Jersey this fall and then preaching at the Jersey Shore Baptist Church for my good friend and pastor Brother Phil Erickson, the next day.   Shirley (I love her and miss her every day) and I, often ministered in that good church over many years after retiring from Faith Baptist in Fairless Hills, PA.
 
     I had a pleasant surprise today with a visit from former members of Faith Baptist.  They had moved to Greenville, SC years ago where his wife was employed at Bob Jones Univ.  I was having my daily quiet time with the Lord when they (Steve and Judy Selby) knocked on my front door.  He was a local policeman and got saved and became a faithful deacon and his talented wife became our choir director.  It was a delight to visit with them and broke the silence and boredom of living alone.  (My tropical fish don’t talk, and my ventriloquist friend “ZERO” only speaks when I do, so he is no help with conversations at all.  )
 
    I will also resume my series of ZOOM sessions with the preacher boys/men for the Harbor B.C. in Hainseport, NJ  (Eastgate Baptist College) after a summer hiatus.
 
     I am praying the Lord will allow me to continue in ministry as long as I am alive and able to do so physically and mentally.  So far, so good…but “only one life, twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last” and the clock is ticking more loudly each day for this OLD MAN.

Greetings in His matchless Name!
 
I am writing this FEDENA FLYER on a very dark day on my calendar.  The world labels it “Good Friday”, and there was nothing “Good” about Christ’s crucifixion for Him as He hung on the cursed Cross, but of course it was wonderful for all sinners who want to go to Heaven when they leave earth.  But this year it is not a “good” day for me, since 5 years ago on this date, my wonderful wife Shirley left me for Heaven and I miss her every day and still love her dearly.  Of course, I would not want her to return to her former pain, but I would gladly be her caregiver once again if she did return.  (I tell her every night that I love her and miss her so much…but she never answers!  Either she is too busy or can’t communicate or is too enraptured with her Savior or….  But the Scripture does say that we are “compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses”…so those in Heaven are apparently aware of events here on earth.  Some object to this concept because those in Heaven would be so depressed on what they are witnessing down here.  But we know that there are tears in Heaven, until they are wiped away at the Great White Throne Judgment.
 
One good thing has happened this week, however.  My granddaughter Stephanie (formerly Lefevers) Sims, and her husband Andrew, and their 3 beautiful daughters came north from Pensacola, Florida for a wedding in his family, in New Jersey.  It has been great having them here, especially on this gloomy date for me.  The 3 girls are beautiful, and we celebrated the middle daughter’s birthday while they were here.  Hannah just turned 7, Ariana is only 5 and Kenzie is 8.  (Kenzie is on the spectrum and only communicates when she can or wants to or has to).  They are all sweet and I really love them dearly.  They are all very active and a handful for this old man, but my grandson Dylan (26) came to rescue me while we babysat them, when Stephanie and Andrew attended the wedding last night.
 
Shirley and I have had 4 children (Crystal, Dawn, Dan & Dean [in Heaven] ) who have blessed me (and Shirley) with 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  Unfortunately, they mostly all live in Pensacola, FL, except Dan and his great wife Amy and their two children, Dylan and Taylor.  I have been able to travel each year to Florida to see most of the family, and this year I was there for Christmas.
 
Now for the really bad news…I will turn 90 years of age on May 28th (are you taking notes?   Actually I don’t look that old, I look and often feel much older!   I have found out that there is no cure for old age. My  vision, hearing and memory are fading…  The good news is that I still get to preach and teach and so far as I know no-one has complained about my cognition or presentations.  I still use PowerPoint for all lessons and messages because we live in such a visual society (nearly everyone walks around with a phone, has TV and computers, etc.)  I was born back before radio!  So technology isn’t my strongest point.  But our Savior was very visual-oriented.  Every miracle He performed was a visual object lesson.  He often spoke using objects, etc. to capture people’s attention and illustrate His sermons and lessons:  “Behold the lilies of the field…the birds of the air”, etc.  We teach our children in S.S. and children’s church, etc. using flannel board, TV’s, etc.  But it seems we abandon visuals in their teen and adult years. (?)  I was taught in Seminary that we remember more of what we see and hear, than what we hear alone.  Many of the old-time preachers used strong visuals in their preaching and teaching also.  Now with all our technology we can place Scripture references and whole passages, sermon titles ,images, outlines, etc. on screens to help with attention and memory.

     Greetings in His matchless Name!
 
     This Flyer is a little late, but I have been busy travelling and creating new messages and lessons, and sometimes things just slip away, including time.  I am still “above ground” but will turn 90 in May.  Thankfully, I am still keeping busy preaching and teaching wherever the Lord opens the door.
 
     Recently I have preached a timely message titled: ISRAEL AT WAR…AGAIN!  which I have preached in 3 churches.  First in Florida at the Smyrna Baptist Church in Pensacola, where most of my family live (it was COLD there!).  My daughter and 3 grand-children live in that area, along with their spouses and children (my great grandchildren).  It was a blessed time of fellowship with the family, great food (my daughter Crystal is a great cook, like Shirley), and a getaway from the boredom of silence of my home without her.  (I have tropical fish, but they never talk, and my ventriloquist buddy “ZERO” only talks when I do!)  It will be 5 years on March 29th, since Shirley left me for another man, the Man Christ Jesus.  I miss her every day and no doubt will join her soon (?).  The other 2 preaching opportunities were in my home church in Lawrence, NJ, (Straightway Baptist) and then at the Grace Independent Baptist Church in Penndel, PA, where Dennis Higgins, Jr. is the relatively new pastor.  (Things are going great since he has become their pastor!)  This message has been well received and gives a biblical explanation as to why Israel is constantly at war.  Ultimately, they will be in the land God promised to (them after the Tribulation) instead of that tiny little piece of geography they live on now.  They will occupy nearly the entire Mid-East, as believers in their promised Messiah!  Jesus will become their (and the world’s) King of Kings and Lord of Lords!  Jews are the only true “Palestinians”!  God only promised the land of Palestine to Jews.
 
     I am back doing some Gospel Magic (illusions) for children in Junior Church every couple of weeks.  It is such a delight to see their expressions and hear their explanations of how they think each trick is done.  I love boys and girls and miss the days when I was their pastor, and we ran up to 14 buses every Sunday morning to pick up adults as well as children.  It is a blessing these days when I meet an adult while shopping, etc. and they come up to me and ask “You are Pastor Fedena, aren’t you?”  I respond positively and they will usually say “I used to ride the Sunday School bus at Faith Baptist.” It is wonderful when I then hear they are still serving the Lord.  This has happened to me 3 times in the last several months.
 
     I continue to add new material to my website via my former youth pastor, Rob Madden, who along with his wonderful and sweet wife Brenda, stay busy so that when I go home to Heaven it will be as “he (me) being dead, yet speaketh”!  There are hundreds+ messages, lessons, articles, music, commentaries, biblical books, news articles, etc. there, and they are all free.  Please check it out!  pastorpaulfedena.weebly.com   
 
     I experience some of the normal aches and pains of an 89-year-old man, but my mind still works pretty well and I believe I am still clear in my speaking opportunities.  I am presently preparing a series of messages for an upcoming Prophecy Conference in Rio Grande (Cape May), N.J. where my nephew, Jeff McLeod, is the great and longtime pastor. 
 
     I have an urgent prayer request for my son, Daniel.  He was injured on the job back in the spring and his leg is not healing.  He must wear a triple wrapping on his lower leg and goes regularly to re-hab.  They are not giving him much hope that it will improve and tell him it is something he will just have to learn to live with.  He is on a slightly reduced work schedule.  He is still young and ambitious, but the swelling and pain in that leg hinders him from what he wants to do.  He is very active in his local church and still does a lot of physical work installing security cameras, TV screens, sound systems (his specialty), etc.  He donates much of his time and his money towards these projects.
