Greetings in His matchless Name!
I know it is a little early for another Fedena Flyer (maybe this will make up for the times I am late?), but I feel an update is in order.
First up – Shirley is doing worse than ever! She is in almost constant SEVERE pain. The Dr. has prescribed Vicodin – a narcotic – but it only takes the edge off for a couple of hours. She cries a lot and prays for the Lord to take her home soon. Shirley has a high tolerance for pain and is not a baby.
She has been through several major surgeries and bounced back in a couple of days. After one huge surgery we went on vacation a couple of days later which involved a couple of plane rides. At one point she had several teeth pulled at once and two days later we attended the World’s Fair. I mention these only to show that she is not a whiner. When she cannot do the simplest chores at home (making a bed, dishes, etc.) I know she is in a bad way! She is in need of “effectual, fervent” prayer of the righteous. Would you PLEASE ray for her today? (She has only missed one meeting with me in spite of her pain. That was in a church where there were steps all over. Otherwise she grits her teeth and goes along.)
Next - I am scheduled for another Cystoscopy. I won’t describe what that is if you don’t know, but it is a very painful experience. The last one I had done in the Dr’s office (read torture chamber!) and he had to stop because I couldn’t tolerate the pain. So he rescheduled another one to be done under anesthetic in the hospital in 2 weeks. I had my semi-annual checkup re: CyberKnife for cancer two days ago and the Dr. there says the Cystoscopy may not be necessary (Yea!!!). But I have to check with the surgeon to see what he thinks. I would love to escape the horrors of this procedure – not just the procedure itself, but the after effects as well. I am NOT a sissy, but neither am I a masochist! Over all I praise the Lord almost daily for the degree of health I enjoy as a 79 year old man. I still preach someplace weekly (I trust not weakly!).
Enough about us and our physical deterioration. There are many others who are in need of prayer as well. I trust you still have the list of preachers (and normal people J) I sent in our last Flyer. Please don’t forget to pray for them.
On a brighter note, my son Dan will be throwing the first pitch in a baseball game for the Trenton Thunder tomorrow night. I will be going to see and support him. (I hope he doesn’t bobble the ball!!! J)
Next, in less than two weeks our granddaughter Stephanie Lefevers (Jerry & Crystal’s daughter) will be getting married at Harbor Baptist Church (July 20th). I will have a part in the wedding along with Pastor Dennis Higgins. Her fiancé is a super nice guy, a good Christian and a soul-winner. They are both members at Harbor B.C. – along with their parents. All the relatives will be “home” for the big event and former friends from Faith Baptist will be staying with us that week (Joe & Sandy Waters).
Also, of course, we are looking forward to seeing our twin great-grandchildren Jack & Julia Lefevers who will be in the wedding (2 ½ years old – should be fun!). Their sister Amelia will be there too and will be a flower girl. She is so sweet and growing up.
Our granddaughter, Taylor Fedena (Dan & Amy’s daughter), graduated from High School and will be off to college in the fall. Our grandson, Westley Roy (Dawn & Steve’s son), graduated also and will be going to college in a few weeks as well.
We are planning on a 5 day “vacation” in Cape May, NJ (where I will be preaching) this month with long time friends of ours (Dr. & Mrs. Herb Brail) – IF Shirley is up to it. Not looking good at present. L Pray that this will become a reality. We could both use the time with friends and a change of scenery.
I preached in our home church (Straightway Baptist, Princeton, NJ) on Wed. night (July 3rd) a message entitled “God’s (Broken) Contract With America.” We had a good attendance and I felt the people present were in agreement even though the message pointed out that we have a New Declaration of Independence (we have declared our independence from God as a nation), a New Constitution(with a preamble that no longer reads “We the people” but “We the Government”) and a New Bill of Rights where our “rights” are dictated and defined by political correctness and our nation leans towards socialism. It wasn’t all “doom and gloom” but was a realistic appraisal of where we stand with God according to my understanding of the Scriptures in these last days. We cannot continue to thumb our nose at our Creator and Redeemer with impunity by embracing the homosexual agenda, butchering 4000 babies daily and dissing Israel! God’s judgment will fall (and may be already falling!). My Pastor (Louis Guarneri) seemed pleased with the content and the Holy Spirit’s involvement in the service. I still pray “God bless America – PLEASE!!!
Our pastor put his home up for sale and has a buyer. He will use the proceeds to purchase a home and give the rest of the money towards a permanent church home. He has NOT found a place to move yet. The clock is ticking. Please pray. We have an important meeting next Wed. night with Township officials regarding the clearance for a church property we desire in a residential community. Please pray with us that we will get a favorable decision and be able to move forward. We are still meeting in a hotel for our services presently.
Hope you all had a great 4th of July – in spite of the heat and humidity! Keep cool!!
Sincerely in the Savior,
Pastor (e) Paul C. Fedena
