Dear Praying Friends,
Greetings in His matchless Name!
This month’s Fedena Flyer is being written by Shirley since this Sunday is Mother’s Day.
I was born into a Christian home and got saved at age 11. I met Paul the night he was saved at the Oliver Greene Tent Revival on July 20, 1956. He went into the army within 6 months and we courted by mail and were married a year after his two years of service in Germany. We have been married 54 year snow and I am very restricted in what I can do so he has to do mostly everything for me. We love each other very much and I helped him when he had his quadruple heart bypass and stroke.
It has been touch and go for me over the past 4 years and I have almost gone to heaven on a couple of occasions. My children and spouses and grandchildren were called in to say goodbye to me in the hospital, but I am still here.
I have been diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and experience intense pain nearly every day now. However I continue to go with my husband to all his meetings and to church services. I have lost a lot of memory but have recently been able to play theorgan again. (Except last Sunday night a my nephew’s church in Rio Grande, N.J [Pastor Jeff McLeod] when I couldn’t play and had to step down from the platform. I was very embarrassed.)
Paul and I have had four wonderful children. Of course you probably know that our son Dean passed away 7 years ago this June. That was the hardest trial we have been through and we miss him every day. There are reminders of his presence all over our home. He was very generous and gave us many things to remember him by. One of the things that helped us after Dean’s passing was the song “It Won’t Rain Always.” You can hear it on our website atwww.pastorpaulfedena.weebly.com. We also enjoy “Through It All” and it is comforting.
We now have 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. We see them pretty regularly, but some of them live a distance, so we don’t get to see them as often as we would like. Two of our grandchildren are in College. All of our children and nearly all of our grandchildren are still in church and attempting to serve the Lord.
Paul has been preaching over 55 years now and we have pastored for 43 of those years. Many of you know that our longest pastor ate of 31 years was at Faith Baptist Church in Fairless Hills, PA. It has now been over 10 years since “retiring”but we are as busy as ever going from church to church trying to be a blessing and an encouragement to the pastors and people. In all we have pastored four great churches and God has wonderfully blessed each one numerically and spiritually. So many memories…
It is interesting that we began our ministry with a man named Pastor Guarnere and are ending it with another preacher named Pastor Guarneri! How strange is that. We love our pastor and the people in our church and they have been an encouragement to us. Paul turns 80 in a few days and I will be 78 in October. It is hard to believe. God has been so good to us.
I want to thank all of you for your prayers in our behalf, your loving support and encouragement and your generosity over the years to this old preacher’s wife and her husband.
Sincerely in the Savior,
Mrs. Shirley M. Fedena
