Dear Friends,
There seems to be much confusion about God’s Word with all the new versions of the Bible on the market today. There are literally hundreds of versions of Scripture available to people in the English language. I believe this causes confusion about what IS and what is NOT the Bible. How would YOU answer the questions below?
First, would you agree that the message in our Bible is God’s Word, but not identical to, the Scriptures? (In other words, that we have God’s Word in a KJB, but not His words precisely.)
Second, which part or parts of God’s words in a KJB are identical to the autographs, and thus inspired, and which are not? (Can you or someone you know point out those that are not identical and thus not inspired?)
Next, do you think it is important that we have a faithful and exact translation of what God actually said as opposed to what our English translators have given to us?
Would you say that the message of God’s Word (but not the words of God) have been preserved for us?
Do you believe the KJB is inerrant and infallible, but not inspired? Is it possible for a group of fallen men to produce an inerrant and infallible document without Divine enablement and providential intervention?
Can a document be infallible and inerrant without being inspired?
Since we do not have the autographs and no one living has ever seen them, how can we be sure we even have anything close to them in the MSS we do have or in any translation?
Do you have any evidence that the LXX was produced before the N.T. was written?
Do you believe Jesus quoted from the LXX? What about Paul?
What principle of exegesis or hermeneutics would you use to back up the “scholars” assertion that Ps. 12:6,7 only refers to the Scriptures up to the point of the Psalmist’s statement?
Your answers to the above questions will identify your position on the subject of the inerrancy, infallibility and inspiration of the Word and words of the Living God. If only the originals or autographs were inspired we are adrift at sea without an anchor. I do not believe this is simply a matter for a theological discussion or individual preference, but that this subject has eternal ramifications for every believer at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Here is my creed and position on this issue:
