Yesterday (Wed.) I called 9-1-1 and had Shirley taken to St. Mary Med. Ctr. due to difficulty breathing, even though on oxygen. She has never completely recovered from her pre-Christmas hospital stay for pneumonia and congestive heart failure (CHF). She continues to be in CHF and Atrial Fibrulation (AF). She was discharged from the hospital for their convenience on Christmas Eve, rather than for her health, in my opinion.
They are attempting to relieve fluid on her lungs which affects her heart's ability to pump blood by giving her more Lasix. This morning she said her Pulmonary Dr. said her lungs are clearing somewhat and she is awaiting a consult with her heart Dr. to see how she is doing. She has also been experiencing increased severe pain in the last 2 weeks due to her Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PR). The only help available for that condition is Predisone, which is dangerous for her due to her Diabetes, so she cannot take it.
