Dear Praying Friends,
Greetings in His matchless Name!
If the word “gospel” means “good news”, then I have a “gospel” for you. As most of you know I am now 89 years old and that means I am feeling older, of course. But along with that comes several health issues. The big-gest one I have been dealing with is extreme difficulty breathing. A couple of weeks ago, I laid down on the couch under a heavy blanket around noon. The outside temp was over 80 degrees. I could not get warm from the waist down and I could barely breathe. Since I have never died before, I didn’t know how that felt, but I thought that was it. No fun at all! I have been to several doctors and have not had any solution. A few months ago, my primary physician retired and a young man replaced him. I had been on an inhaler to help me breathe with albuterol. It did nothing. Then this new Dr. prescribed a new inhaler. It is a steroid, called Flovent HFA. Because of the side effects, listed on the instruction sheet, I didn’t use it for a couple of weeks. I mentioned this to my cardiologist and to my primary and they both told me to use it. It has been a mini miracle. I can breathe almost normally again! Praise the Lord!
Your prayers work, even for a hardhead like me!
Another issue that hasn’t gone well is Age-related Macular Degeneration, which means my eyesight is failing. The young Ophthalmologist I went to for treatment, injected my left eye with medication which was supposed to clear up my blurred vision. (No fun at all!) Instead, it created a new and difficult problem to live with where the letters on a page or a screen look like they have been printed on a bumpy road. The letters are never on a straight line, but are all very uneven or “bumpy”. Since I use closed captions due to my hearing loss, this makes TV watching very unpleasant. I went to see the vision “specialist” again yesterday and he wanted to inject my eye once again, and I refused. So next week I have an appt. with an older specialist that works in the same office (?) for a 2nd opinion or treatment. I would appreciate your efficacious prayers on my behalf. (They worked for my breathing issues!)
Other than health problems, the good news is I can still preach, although it was difficult with the breathing thing for a while. When in Florida visiting my daughter Crystal, and her husband Jerry, and three of their 4 children, and 7 of my great grand-children, I was able to preach twice there. As I mentioned in my last Flyer, I had to come home 2 days earlier than planned, due to shortness of breath. Last Sunday night I was able to preach the evening service in my home church thanks to the kindness and generosity of my Pastor, Louis Guarneri. (I may look like an old man, but I don’t think I preach like one!?? You would have to ask the congregations. Or, you can go online and watch at Straightway Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, NJ, on YouTube and see for yourself.)
One last item: I have recently received two glowing reports about those who visited my website. One was from North Ireland, and another from Manheim, PA. It is a blessing to know that others are not only visiting my website, but enjoying and using the multiplicity of projects (messages, lessons, music, news, etc.) that Brother Rob Madden, my former assistant pastor, posts for me. He is the creator of the site as well and deserves all the credit. He says that he has sufficient numbers of my printed materials, that when I do move to Heaven with the Lord (and Shirley) that he can advertise: “he being dead, yet speaketh” – and will continue to add material. I would urge YOU to check the website for yourself. I am certain you will find it helpful as a believer and hopefully you can share the Gospel there with unsaved friends and especially loved ones dear to you.
If I can be of assistance to you in any area of my ministry, please contact me via e-mail above or drop me a line via snail mail. I will do my best to be a blessing and help.
Sincerely in the Savior,
Pastor Paul Fedena
