ADAM’S RIB, WOMEN’S LIB,
OR THE DEVIL’S FIB?
TEXT: Genesis 2:18-25
18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
THESIS: To set forth the role, rights and responsibilities of women in the light of the Bible.
INTRO:
A. Religion demeans women…the Bible exalts women! The Muslim religion and its Scripture, the Koran, destroys feminine dignity.
ILLUS: While men sit in the shade in Muslim countries, women work in stone quarries with picks and carry off the rubble in baskets on their heads. Bricklayers are men, but the mortar mixers and hod carriers are women. When one westerner saw this and questioned it, he was told “Women aren’t smart enough to lay bricks.”
Understanding the Islamic Explosion, Palmer) The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), guaran-tees the “right” for women to work in the quarry and mix the mortar! They can carry a gun, go to war and even have the privilege of sleeping in a fox hole with men and mud!
B. ERA, Women’s Lib, the Feminist Movement and Unisex are Satanic attacks against women and confuse sexual identity, destroy femininity, promote homosexuality and destroy Biblical authority.
TRANS: The Bible speaks about women’s role, rights and responsibility…
I. WOMEN’S ROLE:
A. Adam’s Rib:
🔹God “created” (Hebrew: “bara”) the world, He “formed” (Hebrew: “jatsar”) man and “made” (Hebrew: “banah”) woman. The word for “rib” is “tselah” and is a feminine noun. The word for “rib” is ordinarily used for a beam or joist in a building. The Lord made or built a woman from a “beam” in man’s body. The woman has a body different from anything else in creation. A “house” was constructed for the woman’s soul!
The rib speaks of her role. She was not an afterthought. She was the crown of God’s creation. The creation account is one of increasing complexity and importance. You say “man is more important; God created Him first.” Using that logic you would have to say a mosquito or an aardvark is more important than man!
🔹Woman was the “help meet” (2 words) for man. That means that she was the one who was specifically created to be man’s complement; a help which was “meet” or fashioned just for him.
🔹Man was incomplete without woman. He is like a 2 sided triangle or a 3 sided square. Man has the motor and gas but no starter. Woman has the starter but no motor or gas. He’s got what it takes but he needs someone to start him! (If you don’t believe this ladies, whisper a few “sweet nothings” in his ear and see if you don’t start something!)
🔹Woman’s primary role is to complete her husband. The word “meet” is literally “aid.” Woman is to aid her needy husband. Ladies, he needs you more than you need him. God didn’t create a child or a pet for man, he created a woman. He didn’t see a child needing care, he saw a man needing help. God didn’t make a woman for her children or to care for her house, but to complete her husband!
B. Women’s Lib:
🔸The “libbers” want role-reversal (hence the masculine clothing and hair styles, tatoos, cigars, etc.). They promote sexual confusion. Let’s look at hair styles. What comes out of the top of a man’s head manifests what goes on inside it! A man who wears his hair long because some woman told him he looked good, is obviously a responder (the woman’s role), not the leader. He has a female soul. A man is to have authority over a woman. That’s what his short hair symbolizes. His badge of authority is his short hair. The woman’s badge of submission is her longer hair. If a woman crops her hair in masculine style she has reversed her role and is dominant and the aggressor. Her hair length shows the degree of her submission to her husband and the Lord. (1 Cor.11- check it out!)
C. Satan’s LIE:
👿Satan whispers to women that they will be happy when they “take charge.” Just the opposite is true! God never made a bird to swim or a fish to fly. A bird out of its element or a fish out of its element cannot fulfill God’s purpose. Neither can a woman out of her God assigned role.
👿Satan says disregard Bible regulations about hair and clothing and you will feel better about yourself. (Would you follow my leadership as your Pastor if I came out on the platform with hair over my shoulders, wearing a skirt and carrying a purse? ) Role reversal is Satanic! Moms need to teach by example. Their daughters need to be feminine, play with dolls and wear dresses! Dads and husbands need to regain the authority in their home and insist that their ladies be, look and dress feminine. (I can hear Mr. Milquetoast whine, “But she won’t let me!”)
II. WOMEN’S RIGHTS:
A. Heaven On Earth:
✨All was peaceful and serene in the Garden till the woman became a “libber” and asserted her “rights.” Eve’s “right” was a right to serve and respond to her husband, complete him, and follow his leadership.
💥The first command in the Bible is always to the follower. Wives are commanded to “submit” before husbands are told to “love.” Children are told to “obey” before fathers are told to “bring them up in the nurture and admonish of the Lord.” This means you have no “rights” till you do your job first. Women are to respond to the man’s needs first, then their “rights” will be recognized.
B. Satan in the Garden:
🔅Misery loves company. Satan had rebelled against God’s authority and order and was cast out of heaven. He wanted Eve and Adam to be cast out of paradise and he knew their rebellion was needed to accomplish that. He was miserably lonely without communion with God and fiercely jealous of those who were serving the Lord and staying in God’s order.
🔅Satan saw how God communed with Adam and Eve and saw the blissful relationship they had with each other. His jealousy prompted him to drag these lower creatures with higher privileges than he now had, down to his level. He appealed to the “weaker vessel” (spiritually), and to the more emotional of the pair first. Without her man by her side, she fell headlong into his trap.
III. WOMEN’S RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Equality in Eden:
Gen. 2:22-23
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
🔸As with the animals (v.19) God brought the woman to Adam and he named her. He called her “woman” (Hebrew: “Isha”) because she came out of the man (Hebrew: “Ish”). Together they became one. In God’s arithmetic 1 + 1 = 1! (v.24)
🔸No children are mentioned yet, even thought the word “cleave” suggests sexual relationship. Also the concept of children is introduced with the terms “father and mother” though Adam and Eve had neither! The point is that Eve was to fulfill her responsibility as “an help meet” to Adam before the fall.
B. Sin In Paradise:
Gen. 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
🔹Eve’s initial rebellion and “women’s lib movement” drug Adam with her. Eve asserted her “rights” instead of exercising her responsibility. Her rebellion brought her pain in childbirth. Her “rights” got her submission to her husband.
🔹Women can continue to swallow the suggestions of Satan if they please, but they will continue to pay the awful price attached to those suggestions. This whole subject is more than about what clothes you wear or how you wear your hair, ladies, it is about God’s order and His authority, and one day you will stand before Him and answer to His authority!
CONCLUSION: Today ADAM’S RIB (the woman) has fallen for WOMEN’S LIB, which in reality is THE DEVIL’S FIB! The whole movement is anti-God, anti-Christ and anti-Bible!
🧡According to 1 Cor. 11:7 “the woman is the glory of man!” No creature of God will ever be happy or fulfilled or useful till that thing which is superior becomes its master. Ladies, if God has given you a man, he is not complete without you. You must complete him.
💥Men, if you have not assumed your role and accepted your responsibility as spiritual leader in your home, do so today!
