Greetings in His matchless Name!
Yes, it has been a while since the last update.
MEETINGS: COVID has not only taken a toll on churches, and our nation, but also on special meetings for itinerant preachers like myself, evangelists, missionaries, etc.
That not only impacts my preaching and teaching ministry, which I love, but obviously my income as well. This year has been "slim pickins" as they say.
Also I have had some drop monthly support too. But I am very, very grateful for those who continue their faithfulness - not only in financial, but also in prayer support.
HEALTH: Undoubtedly some think that at my age (87) I should perhaps consider total retirement. I believe I should continue teaching and preaching as long as I have enough mental and physical abilities to do so. I am excited every day to find previously undiscovered truths in God's Word and the thrill of converting those concepts to new lessons and messages.
Of course I do have some physical limitations. Due to a very low pulse rate (lower 40's) I have a new "friend" - a Pacemaker. It seems to be working and my heart rate is now in the mid 60's at rest. The most limiting problem is my breathing. I have no trouble when sitting or normal movement, including teaching and preaching (and housework), but as soon as I physically exert myself, as in outdoor gardening, walking distances, etc. I begin to have uncomfortable breathing issues. A Pulmonologist said yesterday that I was nonetheless "within normal and acceptable range." (I guess she meant for an OLD MAN!)
Recently while eating three of my bottom teeth broke off at the gum line and I had to have the roots dug out. That was not bad, but I have a bone growth in my lower gum that may have to be surgically removed and is often painful. Two dentists have told me the surgery is very, very uncomfortable and slow healing. I haven't yet contacted an oral surgeon (procrastination, I guess!), but I am praying for direction. Would you pray with me?
Recently a good friend and fellow preacher lost his wife. Brother Joe Kaiser has now joined the ranks of being a widower, like me. I miss Shirley every day and I am sure he is missing his beloved wife Barbara as well. I was able to attend the Memorial Service at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Berlin, NJ. Brother Kaiser represents their Northeast Vision Ministry of trying to plant new churches in the NE corridor. (While there I saw many, many "old friends" and former students of SR's School of the Scriptures where I taught for many years. I also picked up three preaching engagements that day - praise the Lord!.)

P.S. My sister June Swanson, who lives in the greater Chicago area, recently lost her husband and two sons within a period of a couple of months. Please pray for her and her other two sons and their families.
