Greetings in His matchless Name!
As many of you may know my dear wife and sweetheart has taken her final trip on earth and is now in Heaven where she has met her Savior face to face for the first time. (Face to Face is my favorite hymn). Shirley and I have been married for 59 1/2 years and have tried to serve the Lord together faithfully.
Shirley was saved when she was a young girl of 8 years old. She was raised in a Christian home with her parents and siblings, Mr. & Mrs. Timothy & Mildred Bell, Tim, Dolores, Doris sand Janet. She only took piano lessons for about one year and had an innate talent to be able to play by ear. She could usually hear a song once or twice and then play it, without music. She expressed her personality in her playing and had a distinct style. She only played in churches and at Youth for Christ rallies in her teen years.
Shirley and I met at the Oliver Green tent revival in Chester, PA in 1956 where she was a secretary who took the info regarding those who were saved in the meetings. I was one of them, so we met the same night I received Christ. We never dated since I went into the Army and was shipped to Germany shortly thereafter, so we courted by mail and were married about a year after I returned to the states two years later.
I was called to be a pastor shortly after our marriage and we bought a trailer and moved to N.Y. to go Seminary. She worked at the college to help me pay my school bills. Shirley has always been willing to do anything she could to help me and the ministry and never second-guessed me on any move I felt led of the Lord to make. We have pastored 4 churches. One while I was in Seminary in Walton, NY and my first full-time ministry in DeRuyter, NY, one in Glen Burnie, MD and of course one in Fairless Hills, PA for 31 years. She was a great pastor's wife, pianist, organist, Kindergarten teacher and secretary and everyone seemed to love her. She was very friendly, frank and open and counseled many ladies over the years. But mostly she simply set a great example for the ladies wherever we pastored.
Shirley was and is the love of my life, the mother of our four children Crystal, Dawn, Daniel and Dean who have given us 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and loving grand and great grandmother.
Sincerely in the Savior,
Pastor (e) Paul C. Fedena
P.S. Dear Shirley, we all love you and will miss you tremendously! But it is not "Goodbye sweetheart", it is simply "See you in Heaven later Hon!" Life will be much more difficult for us but much better for you after over 10 years in pain. No more pain, wheelchairs, hospitals, nursing homes, therapy, doctors or meds. I don't know how you made it through all of that, but you are free at last
