HATING WITH GOD!
GOD IS LOVE! AND, GOD LOVES!
And, God’s love for humanity is demonstrated by His willingness to send His only begotten Son to die in our place to pay the penalty for our sins. Even though we are undeserving sinners.
However, God also hates.
And what God hates, we should also hate.
1. GOD HATES IDOLATRY OF ANY KIND:
Deut 12:31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
When we think of idolatry, we usually think of bowing down to some image, statue or other idol. But idolatry can be towards anything or anyone we place our affections or loyalty to above the Lord Himself. It can be people, money, position, ambition or even family members.
2. GOD HATES THE WICKED AND THOSE WHO LOVE VIOLENCE:
Ps 11:5-12:1 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. 6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. 7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
Wow! The Lord must hate Hollywood and all the violence they portray and surely He doesn’t want His children to love violence. It is interesting that when Hollywood or the TV industry make a movie or production they rate it using a system of letters: N for Nudity, L for Language, AC for Adult Content and V for Violence. Honestly, I am guilty of seeing and enjoying some violence against those, who in my opinion, deserve it. Criminals, rapists, those who torture others, etc. have it coming in my opinion. But this passage of Scripture convicts me! I need to reevaluate my value system in the light of God’s Holy Word. This doesn’t mean that I don’t long for justice against those mentioned above, but I need to be careful not to delight in the violence meted out to them. (What about you?)
3. GOD HATES DIVORCE:
Mal 2:16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away:
When a man and woman (only!) become “one flesh” through marriage God expects and demands that that joining cannot and should not be broken through divorce. Mankind, almost from the beginning, have violated God’s design and His desire. He does permit temporary separation and indicates in 1 Cor. 7 that “if the unbelieving depart, let him depart” But His desire is that reconciliation should later occur. (Perhaps if and when that departing partner gets saved?) Please consider this statement: “And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. But to the rest speak I , not the Lord: if any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and he be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.” 1 Cor. 7:10-12
4. GOD HATES THESE SEVEN SINS:
Prov 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Out of these 7 things which God says He hates, may I highlight the one that is most repugnant to me? “hands that shed innocent blood”! Woe be to the Doctors and nurses who perform abortions. And greater woe be to the parents who consent to having an abortion. There is no blood more innocent than that of an unborn baby! God help America where over 4000 totally INNOCENT children are put to death in horrible ways before they see the light of day! We recoil at the Nazi atrocities conducted in concentration camps during WWII, but are seemingly indifferent to what takes place in the supposed safety of a hospital where these murders are carried out daily by doctors and nurses who have sworn to “do no harm”.
Surely these other six abominations are among those things God hates and are heinous in His sight as well. But abortion, or more properly, the wholesale murders of the most innocent among us, is one of the most egregious sins committed by otherwise intelligent and moral people.
Sincerely In The Savior,
