Dear Praying Friends,
Greetings in His matchless Name!
Time continues to march quickly along. Things are heating up in the campaign for the Presidency. There are only two possible outcomes from the biblical standpoint, as I see it.
1. God finds enough believers still serving Him that He gives us more mercy and grace (as in Abraham’s prayer for Sodom), or
2. The Lord continues to add to our present judgment and plunges our country into a socialist or Muslim state (destruction - as in Sodom, only not instantaneous).
As a nation we have been thumbing our nose at God for too long and eliminating Him from our public life, pushing the Sodomite Agenda daily, and killing 4000+ babies every day. We have made sports, Rock and other devilish music our gods and God judged Israel for the same things. But, since Israel is God’s prophetic time clock, things even look bleaker, as our “President” snubs the Prime Minister and refuses to draw a “red line” regarding Iran, leaving Israel hanging out to dry. God is watching! The question hinges on God’s wonderful (but limited) grace. As Bible believers we had better get suddenly serious about prayer, serving the Lord and soul-winning while the clock still ticks.
Now the good news! I am almost completely over (finally!) the side effects of my radiation treatments. (They predicted a week or at the most a weekand a half of side effects and it turned into over two looooong months. I must be “special” since they say that I am the only one that has gone this long. (In this area I prefer not to be special!!) I am back to preaching and teaching in churches and at Solid Rock’s School of the Scriptures every Tuesday night. This semester I am teaching on Spiritual Gifts. Last Tuesday evening was ourfirst class for this semester and we had about 30 students, but traditionally the attendance will grow in the next few weeks. This is my 17th year teaching there (though I may have misseda semester or two due to health issues). It is exciting to see adults giving of their precious time (some coming straight from work), to study God’s Word. For us it is an hour plus each way every week, so please pray for travelling mercies for us.
More good news! Shirley has had some really good days and has improved overall. She does some exercises every day (or most every day!) and walks in the neighborhood as well. Her pain isn’t as severe or as all pervasive as it had been. She has lost about 30 pounds and looks much better. Her sense of humor has also returned. She is able to do some light housework and cooking from time totime. Her memory has improved and she is back on her computer at times, and has even been driving the car a little lately. Praise the Lord for our three kids and their spouses who supply us with delicious meals nearly every week.
God has been good to us even in recent times when our out flow has exceeded our income, due to cancelling meetings during recovery, getting hit with a $3000.00 tax bill (we obviously don’t have any kids in school anymore!! J), and falling into the infamous “doughnut hole” of Medicare which means having to pay full price for all of Shirley’s and some of my medications. A hearty THANK YOU to the few churches which support us monthly and to a couple of very generous individuals is in order!!!
Last Lord’s Day we had the privilege of speaking in one of our supporting churches in the Camden, N.J. area where Brother Anthony Garris is planting and cultivating another new church. He does an outstanding job as a church planter and his new church is meeting in a former Roman Catholic Church building gymnasium. There was a good response to the invitation. This coming Lord’s Day we will be with Dr. Sal Yannizzi in Coatesville, PA where we will be doing all the services in what he is billing as “HEAVEN ON EARTH SUNDAY.” I am excited to preach on the subject of Heaven and hopefully, get the folks there excited about going to Heaven - maybe even changing their minds about the subject to some extent. At least that is what we are praying for the Holy Spirit to do. Then we will be in the New York City area the following week to preach on Heaven again for Pastor Steve Janke and the Community Baptist Church. And on it goes. I still haveseveral prime open dates for meetings in the fall and winter months (hint to pastors!).
Please continue to pray for Dr. Steve Hays of the Eastern Shore Bible Baptist Church and the dread disease of Myasthenia Gravis and its debilitating effects. Pastor Arthur Gilmore (First Baptist Church of Easton) also needs your prayers as he will be going in for another surgery next month. His last surgery didn’t go well at all and he ended up two months in the hospital!!! Pray for no infections and no complications. Pastor Charles Clark (Solid Rock Baptist Church) had a recent stroke and has significant blockage in his carotid artery which places him at risk for more strokes. Please pray regularly for these men of God and others like Pastor Rick Wedemeyer, still dealing with the effects of a major stroke daily. Pastor and Mrs. Dennis Higgins of Harbor Baptist Church in Hainesport, NJ, have a several months old granddaughter with severe cancer. Our heart goes out to them as they watch this baby go through the horrendous chemo and radiation treatments and pray for her recovery. Please pray for little Savanna.
Several have been asking about our great grand-twins, Jack and Julia Lefevers (son and daughter of Paul & Sarah). They seem healthy and normal (and mischievous) and will turn 2 years of age in two weeks. Praise the Lord!
Well that will have to wrap it up for another Fedena Flyer. Keep looking UP!
Sincerely in the Savior,
Pastor(emeritus) Paul C. Fedena
P.S. I hope all of you who have computer access will take some time to check out our website above and read some of the articles there - especially you preachers! It has been five years since our 39 year old son, Dean, passed away suddenly. We still think of him every day and there is a brief tribute to him posted there by our good friend and former assistant pastor, Rob Madden (Brother Madden is also responsible for our website). The song “It won’t rain always” in that tribute has been a constant source of encouragement to us, and hopefully will be to you as well as you face the storms of life.
